Why I do this work.
I originally came to Project Venture interested in statistics/evaluation and was excited to work with the organization’s evaluator – but also, wanting to work in a field that made a positive contribution to society. Once I saw the (literally) life changing work that happens at Project Venture with youth, but also the positive impacts on family and community members, I knew this was the right place for me. I’m full of admiration for all the staff here; they inspire me every day with their care and commitment to make the world a better place. My own life has been positively impacted as well. I believe the best way to work with people is to acknowledge and build upon their strengths and then support and lift them up in challenging areas. I’m grateful that my management experience has allowed me to be a positive contributor to the organization.
Sheri is Project Venture’s Chief Operating Officer.
My role is to provide leadership, management and oversight of all programs, operations and activities, including, program design, quality assurance, risk management and compliance to meet internal standards and external regulatory, accrediting, funding and reporting requirements; staff management and talent development; oversight of organization finance, administrative operations and business development. While I primarily work in the Albuquerque office, I’m fortunate that I get to travel regularly to meet our PV partners.
My educational background includes an A.A. degree in Liberal Arts and a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of New Mexico. Like all PV staff, I am a certified Wilderness First Responder and Mental Health First Aid certified. My many years of experience and interest in the outdoors, hiking, camping, biking, backpacking have all been a plus.
When I’m not at Project Venture, you can find me working on projects around my property, gardening, taking care of my three dogs, eight chickens and two cats, spending time with my daughter and family and hopefully out for a walk or jog.
