Thomas Yellow Cloud

Hau Mitakuyepi (my relatives) My Name is Thomas Yellow Cloud. My Lakota name is Mni Inaji Kin, which translates to Stops the Water. I was named after a Lakota man from the mid 1800’s that helped save his people when they were attacked by Calvary Soldiers.

I come from Porcupine, South Dakota located on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The dream and vision of Project Venture in South Dakota all started with one of our elderly headsmen Paul Iron Cloud Sr. “Tasunke Ota” (His Many Horse’s) and support of his wife, Mary Iron Cloud. Together with Mr. Mac Hall they brought that dream to life.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with the children/youth “Wakanyeja” from across Indigenous lands. My hopes is to take this dream further so that the future generations will always have a future.

Hobbies: Horseback riding & training. Fishing, hunting, making bows, and singing.
