English Name: Marque Lunderman
Lakota Name: Wawoslata Luta Win “Red Breastplate Woman”
I am an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, and my connection to my Lakota Culture runs deep, as it represents not just my identity but a way of life. The values shared between my cultural background, my Gaka (Grandfather), Paul Iron Cloud Sr., and his vision, and the principles of Project Venture serve as an inspiration, motivating me to foster growth and adventure in all aspects of the program and in my life.
As an Experiential Educator, my primary focus is on organizing camps, trips, and program activities both within and outside school settings. Through Project Venture, I strive to find a perfect balance between preserving my Lakota values and providing access to environmental learning and the wonders of the natural world.
Beyond my professional pursuits, I cherish my role as a loving mother and supportive parent. I find my most joy in attending and cheering on micunksi (my daughter) at her sporting events, nurturing her growth as she finds her own path. Additionally, spending time with my family is also a core value in my life. Without their love and support, I wouldn’t be who I am today, especially my Unci (grandmother) and my Gaka (grandfather). They have provided me with grounding and nourishment for my soul.
